Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients.
- Monitor patients’ conditions and record observations accurately.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by authorized healthcare providers.
- Assist in medical procedures and provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
- Provide health education and counseling to patients, families, and communities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate nursing interventions.
- Implement infection prevention and control measures in accordance with established guidelines.
- Coordinate patient care with doctors, clinical officers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Supervise and support junior nursing staff, students, and support personnel where applicable.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuous professional development activities.
- Ensure compliance with nursing standards, policies, and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
- Diploma, Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Registered and licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Valid practicing license.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant nursing experience
- Sound knowledge of nursing procedures, patient care standards, and infection prevention practices.
- Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with electronic medical record systems are an added advantage.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to quality patient care.
