Person Specifications
(Education, Experience & Competencies)
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Remote Sensing, Geographical Information Science, Geo-Spatial Engineering, Surveying, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Control and Instrumentation, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and implementing policies, guidelines, and standards on navigation and positioning systems;
- Undertaking assessments and preliminary evaluations of national reference frameworks and positioning infrastructure;
- Implementing initiatives such as search & rescue and disaster risk reduction, through technical inputs and field data;
- Undertaking quality assurance processes and reporting on performance of positioning services and products;
- Monitoring application of navigation technologies and assisting in identifying areas for improvement or innovation;
- Generating basic reports and proposals for revenue generation or strategic collaboration; and
- Compiling and organizing technical inputs for research and innovation in positioning systems.
