Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary supervisor for Riding Gang personnel performing maintenance, preservation, repair, and operational support aboard MSC vessels.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments, schedules, and task execution for multi‑trade Riding Gang teams while vessels are underway or in port.
  • Oversee preservation, mechanical, structural, and general maintenance activities in accordance with MSC, Navy, and industry standards.
  • Ensure proper use of tools, materials, PPE, and equipment, maintaining accountability and readiness of all assigned gear.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, safety, and compliance with technical specifications and mission requirements.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation related to Riding Gang operations, labor hours, material usage, and safety compliance.
  • Support onboarding, training, and safety briefings for Riding Gang personnel.
  • Coordinate with ship leadership, engineering teams, and Amentum management to align Riding Gang activities with vessel maintenance schedules and operational priorities.
  • Ensure all maintenance and preservation activities comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership regarding project progress, personnel status, and operational impacts.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in shipboard maintenance, preservation, repair operations, or related maritime fields.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in marine maintenance, preservation, or technical trades preferred.
  • Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date.
  • Ability to meet and maintain contract medical requirements for the duration of assignment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting MSC, maritime operations, shipboard maintenance, or Riding Gang programs.
  • Familiarity with Navy maintenance standards, preservation requirements, and shipboard operational procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience supervising multi‑trade maintenance crews in shipboard or industrial environments.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain country‑specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
