Job Purpose

To provide professional mortuary services, ensuring collection, documentation, and preparation of deceased bodies (including embalming) while maintaining high standards of hygiene and sanitation of facilities and equipment in the funeral home.

Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of the Funeral Home, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

  • Undertaking admission of bodies to the mortuary.
  • Facilitating transfer of deceased patients to the mortuary.
  • Documenting and recording of data.
  • Identifying medico-legal cases.
  • Preparing of bodies for burial including embalming.
  • Cleaning and dressing of bodies.
  • Cleaning of mortuary and equipment and instruments used in the mortuary.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned.

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Certificate in Mortician course or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean Grade D (plain) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in computer application.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
