Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include: –

• An officer at this level will be responsible for handling psychosocial problems of patients in a hospital or psychiatric unit; and
• This will include extracting psychosocial information from the patient and observation of causal factors which might be useful to the treatment plan and the implementation of patient’s treatment programme and follow-up on discharge.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Mental Health or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
• Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
