Duties and Responsibilities: 

An officer at this level will report will report to Head of Department/Medical superintendent. 

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:- 

• Responding to all calls of duty by the intern doctor or nurse on duty whether emergency or otherwise as quickly as possible; 
• Reviewing all patients and instruct, in writing, all recommendations; 
• Supporting the consultant in all wards, theatres and clinics; 
• Filling relevant medical examination forms-P3, physical fitness, age assessment 
• Undertaking certain specified emergency surgeries, minor or major, with the assistance of the intern doctor (s) or student(s); 
• Performing post-mortems (PMs) and duly fill autopsy forms; 
• Attending to court cases; 
• Conducting ward rounds with or without medical specialists; and 
• Preparing and implementing annual work plan based on Departmental work plan. 

Requirements

For appointments to this grade a candidate must have:- 

• Kenyan Citizenship 
• Completed one year of Internship in a government approved facility 
• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree or equivalent qualification from recognized institution; 
• Registration Certificate by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council; 
• Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council; (vi) Professional indemnity; and 
• Proficiency in computer applications skills.
