Job Purpose

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for supporting engineering and production operations through skilled fabrication, welding, and mechanical maintenance. The role include and not limited to working with various metals, especially stainless steel and mild steel, to fabricate, install, and repair piping systems and mechanical components.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical fitting and assembly of components, machinery, and piping systems according to technical specifications and drawings.
• Execute arc welding and TIG welding tasks, particularly for stainless steel pipes, ensuring high-quality, defect-free welds.
• Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to guide fabrication and installation processes.
• Conduct routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Prepare and cut materials, ensuring proper measurements and alignment before welding or assembly.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets required quality standards and specifications.
• Assist in troubleshooting mechanical faults and recommending corrective actions.

Qualifications

• KNEC Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Production option) or its equivalent from recognized college.
• KCSE certificate – C plain.
• Specialization in Production / Welding and Metallurgy.
• Technical experience in fitting, arc welding, and high-quality TIG welding of stainless-steel pipes.
