A linguist will be invited to listen to audio samples (each approx. 30 s long) to assess the regional accent and native language of the participant and then verify if the transcription provided is correct, fix it if required and evaluate if the task is completed in line with the instructions, report issues regarding background noise, etc.

The task is about performing quality checks and revision on audio files for: 

• native language, 
• accent, 
• Noises 
• Speech naturalness
• If the task was completed in line with the instructions
• Check transcription for accuracy and making edits to the text of the transcription if applicable
• Transcription annotation – inserting emotions (happy, sad etc), non-verbal cues (e.g. laugh, cough, lip smack etc
• Transcription time-stamping – set correctly start and end time for speech segments

Work load: The tasks will become available on an almost daily basis and the volume will vary daily. Overall time spent on the whole project will vary from 2 to 4 hours.

Expected Project Duration: August – November 2025

Estimated time per task: up to 2.5 mins

Qualification path

To be eligible to be considered for the Project you must meet the following criteria:

• Native speaker of English (South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya)
• Currently located in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya
• Pass the English Fluency Test and the Transcription test
• 18 years old +
• Access to a computer (desktop/laptop) and stable Internet connection
