Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities

• Undertaking teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels;
• Undertaking research and produce publications or other research outputs;
• Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research;
• Participating in curriculum development and review;
• Examination preparation, administration and assessment;
• Participating in administration and management of departmental programmes and activities;
• Developing learning materials including modules;
• Undertaking community outreach activities;
• Participating in the development and review of academic programmes;
• Guiding, mentoring and counselling students;
• Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from a recognized University;
• OR; A Master Degree qualification (plus a PhD registration) in the relevant field from a recognized University (in special cases) with at least (3) years teaching experience at University level or in research or industry in relevant area;
• Registered with relevant professional body (where applicable);
• A minimum of eight (8) publication points from peer-reviewed journals with; Minimum of two (2) publications in refereed journals or two (2) scholarly published teaching modules or two (2) peer reviewed working/ occasional/ discussion papers;
• Must show evidence of community service;
• Proficiency in computer applications;
• Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
