Key Responsibilities

Duties at this level will include:

• teaching and assessing students;
• preparing schemes of work, lesson notes, and lesson plans; assessing students in clinical settings; advising and counselling students on academic matters; supporting the design and development of instruments to assess health training needs;
• developing guidelines for evaluating health teaching materials across different health fields; evaluating training programmes to determine their effectiveness and relevance to current and future health needs in the area of specialisation; implementing a competency-based curriculum; planning and organising continuing education programmes for health workers in relevant areas; conducting research in the area of specialisation and operational research, and supervising students on research projects; and participating in the formulation and implementation of new training strategies.

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing;

OR

• KMTC Higher Diploma in Anesthesia, Critical Care, Nephrology, Peri-Operative Nursing, Theater Nursing, Psychiatry and Mental Health, Pediatric Nursing, Ophthalmic Nursing, Palliative Care, Public Health Nursing, Midwifery, Oncology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Family Health, with practice in the relevant field for a minimum of six (6) years
• Been registered with the relevant professional body where applicable;
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution;
• Proficiency in computer applications.
