Your Role:

As the JIF Officer, you will support the design and delivery of the JIF Project Studio and help connect innovative actors across Africa and Europe. You will work closely with the HAUS Innovation Expert in Nairobi, African partners, European partners, service providers and wider project teams.

  • Contribute to the operations of the Joint Innovation Facility (JIF) with HAUS and GIZ
  • Support the design and delivery of the JIF Project Studio and tailored support for funded innovation consortia
  • Collaborate with expert service providers offering technical and operational support to ventures through needs‑based assistance, peer‑learning activities, capacity‑building, and investment‑readiness training
  • Build and maintain relationships with African innovation networks, hubs, clusters, and private‑sector partners
  • Engage with innovation stakeholders including support organisations, universities, research institutions, and ecosystem actors
  • Coordinate activities with AEDIB project teams, experts, and donors to ensure alignment with partner country priorities
  • The Officer will work in close collaboration with HAUS Innovation Expert based in Nairobi, African partners, the European consortium, and staff recruited for the project.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • University degree in innovation management, business, economics, international development, technology, sustainability, marketing communications, or related areas
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in innovation ecosystems, digital or green innovation, entrepreneurship support, growth funding, or similar work in African contexts
  • Experience working with innovation support organisations (hubs, incubators, accelerators, clusters, think tanks)
  • Understanding of innovation policy, digital transformation, and green transition especially within a Sub-Saharan African context
  • Familiarity with mechanisms that support start‑ups and innovation ecosystems, especially in one or more of the following countries:
  • Strong coordination and communications skills, including professional social‑media content creation (e.g., LinkedIn, WhatsApp groups)
  • Solid cross-cultural communication skills with experience successfully working with multicultural teams in a hybrid working environment
  • Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Proficiency with online collaboration tools (MS Teams, Office suite) and effective hybrid‑work practices
  • Strong strategic thinking, a solutions‑focused growth mindset, and excellent written and spoken English
  • Willingness to travel within Africa and internationally when needed
