Interior Designer Job Chartered Engineering

Position Summary:
The Interior Designer will be responsible for the overall management of our joinery workshop. This role is crucial for ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in joinery, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Design Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients to understand their needs and project briefs for custom joinery items.
- Collaborate with the project management team to develop and refine joinery designs.
- Create detailed drawings and presentations for client approval.
Production & Planning:
- Interpret architectural and interior design drawings to create precise cutting lists and material requisitions.
- Supervise and guide a team of skilled carpenters and technicians in all aspects of joinery and fabrication.
- Plan and schedule workflow to meet project deadlines efficiently.
Quality Control & Workshop Management:
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control standards throughout the fabrication process to ensure all finished products meet our company’s high standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and finished items.
- Oversee the maintenance and safety of all workshop machinery and equipment.
- Manage workshop inventory, tools, and materials.
- Ensure the workshop operates in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in a busy joinery workshop in a supervisory role is essential.
- Education: A diploma or degree in Interior Design, or a related field, is required.
Skills:
- Working knowledge of design software
- Working knowledge of cutting list software, eg, Optimizer
- Strong work ethic
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of various joinery techniques, materials, and machinery.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interaction.
- A meticulous approach to quality control and problem-solving.
