  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, creating business cases for innovative insurance and resilience products.
  • Develop the organization’s overall risk transfer strategy, proposing insurance solutions or internal programs (e.g., Credit Guarantees) to mitigate business risks.
  • Lead the pursuit of grants and technical assistance funding, including proposal writing, for climat and social resilience initiatives.
  • Establish and manage strategic partnerships with insurers, insurtech firms, technology providers and NGOs.
  • Design and develop client-centric insurance products (e.g., Health, Life, Index-based Climate) that can be embedded into core loan products while maintaining affordability.
  • Create resilience-focused programs that address root causes of client default, such as health shocks or agricultural loss, to improve portfolio quality.
  • Develop pre-lending risk mitigation programs, leveraging insurance and training, to help higher risk clients qualify for credit.
  • Oversee the full insurance operations cycle, including agency management, premium collection, and commission recovery.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulations set by national insurance authorities and other relevant bodies.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase client uptake and engagement through education, communication, and value demonstration.

  • Several years of professional experience within the insurance industry, with a strong preference for backgrounds in Micro-insurance, Bancassurance, or Insurtech.
  • Demonstrated understanding of microfinance or lending operations, particularly credit risk dynamics.
  • Proven experience working in social impact, inclusive finance, or directly with marginalized communities.
  • Track record of managing projects from initial concept and business case through to successful launch and scale.
  • Financial Modeling: Proficiency in conducting Cost-Benefit Analyses, pricing models, and financial forecasting for insurance products.
  • Strategic Communication: Exceptional writing skills for creating white papers, board proposals, grant applications, and business cases.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of insurance licensing, product approval processes, and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Multidisciplinary Thinker: Able to synthesize insights from fintech, traditional insurance, and social impact sectors.
  • Strategic Doer: Combines high-level strategic thinking with meticulous attention to operational detail (commissions, premiums, compliance).
  • Commercial & Mission-Driven: Possesses the acumen to drive profit while ensuring client affordability and achieving social impact goals.
  • Entrepreneurial Leader: A self-motivated owner capable of building and scaling new initiatives from the ground up.
