Hydrogeologist Job Kisumu CPSB

The officer will be reporting to Director Water and Natural Resources. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Planning and carrying out hydro-geological field investigations (borehole siting, drilling supervision, geophysical surveys, test pumping and water sampling); 
• Mapping, monitoring and evaluating groundwater resources (prepare hydrogeological maps, groundwater level and quality monitoring and develop aquifer models); 
• Collecting hydrometeorological and hydrogeological data, analyze trends, prepare technical reports, feasibility studies and recommendations for water supply projects; 
• Designing, verifying borehole casing and well/construction details; advise on drilling methods, monitoring equipment and groundwater protection/contamination mitigation; (v) Contributing to policy, project planning, resource management plans and coordinate hydrogeological functions across agencies/counties; and 
• Supervising field teams, contractors and training staff or hydrological assistants where applicable. 

Requirements

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: – Kenyan Citizenship 

• Served in the grade of Hydrologist II Job Group K or its equivalent for a minimum period of three (3) years or in a comparable and relevant position; 
• Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Hydrology; Geology (with relevant hydrogeology focus); Geoscience with concentration in hydrogeological or ground water science or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; 
• Proven competence and merit in work performance 
• Strong communication, analytical and supervisory skills 
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and professional standards 
• Proficiency in computer applications.
