- Ensure full compliance with DOSH requirements, including safety audits, certifications, and workplace registration renewals.
- Lead thorough investigations of all incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, ensuring root cause analysis and prevention of recurrence.
- Conduct and update risk assessments, implementing control measures that eliminate or minimize workplace hazards.
- Develop, implement, and deliver training on First Aid, Fire Safety, Working at Heights, Electrical Safety, PPE usage, and emergency response procedures.
- Champion the proper provision, use, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) across all teams.
- Collaborate with the Procurement and Logistics teams to ensure timely procurement, maintenance, and replacement of all safety and emergency equipment.
- Ensure all Ignite shops, warehouses, and facilities are properly licensed and compliant with statutory health and safety requirements.
- Train, mentor, and monitor HSE Champions across regions to drive compliance, awareness, and proactive reporting.
- Lead HSE induction for all new employees and contractors to embed a deep understanding of safety expectations from day one.
- Develop and maintain Kenya-specific HSE policies and procedures aligned with Ignite Energy Access Africa standards and local regulations.
- Prepare and consolidate monthly HSE performance reports for submission to the Country Director and Senior Leadership Team.
- Oversee safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with statutory requirements.
- Stay abreast of emerging health and safety legislation and best practices, ensuring continuous organizational compliance and improvement.
- Act as a visible safety ambassador, modelling safe behaviours and influencing others to prioritize safety in all operations.
