Head of Marketing Africa role will be responsible for providing strategic direction for all marketing activities across the region, this will involve developing and implementing marketing strategies to drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and revenue growth. This role requires creativity, innovation, and the ability to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns and programs. Evaluate the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.

Collaboration closely with other departments, such as Sales and Regulatory Affairs & Quality Assurance, to ensure marketing strategies support overall business objectives. This is a function of the business that is tasked with evaluating customer/consumer needs, gaining deeper insights while keeping view of the evolving market dynamics & using all these insights to derive executable strategies that will drive the business to meet its objectives, while providing direction to teams in execution. 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy and plan to achieve organizational business goals and enhance brand presence across the entire region.
  • Collaborate with business team to uncover insights for developing marketing and branding strategies for existing and new products.
  • Oversee and grow the marketing department by identifying revenue opportunities among established clients and by securing new accounts.
  • Establish commercial priorities and ensure appropriate business focus through effective planning and appropriate resource allocation across the region.
  • Ensure the implementation and monitoring of required marketing activities to meet the strategic quantitative and qualitative KPIs of the business and where required take corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share across the region.
  • Responsible for developing & managing overall marketing objectives across the region.
  • Works in close association with commercial teams across the region to deliver local revenue targets.
  • Manages the marketing/product team budgets. Ongoing monitoring of all expenses.
  • Ensures team cohesion & drives delivery of efficient and high-quality deliverables to support the Sales organization across the region.
  • Leads & provides guidance to an efficient and high-quality team & promotes synergy and best practice sharing among resources, drives active cross-functional collaboration to ensure success of all marketing / commercial projects & launch excellence.
  • Regional Forecasting: To achieve the agreed customer service level by providing accurate product demand forecasts. Ensure that all forecasting assumptions for the region are appropriately documented.
  • Provide supervision through regular field visits, observations and measurement of results to include campaign evaluation, key opinion leaders feedback and field intelligence reports.
  • Takes initiative to drive standardization of reporting across the various portfolios & oversees marketing excellence across the region.

Qualifications and Experience:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • MBA or advanced degree is a required.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 10 + years within marketing environment, strong exposure to market research and business analytics.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a Senior Marketing Management position with demonstrable line management experience, to be able to provide coaching to experienced product managers.
  • Solid understanding key performance metrics and tracking tools for market research, forecasts, competitor analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends, and translate results into actionable insights for marketing team.
