Finance Manager Job Peponi’s

Finance Jobs Peponi’s Jobs

This is a full-time role for a Finance Manager at Peponi’s. As our first dedicated finance hire, you’ll bring order and insight to our fast-growing operation. You’ll own the full picture of our financial health — from categorizing daily transactions to analyzing food costs, managing cash flow, and helping leadership make smart decisions with real numbers.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll build systems from the ground up, not just maintain them. You’ll work closely with ownership and operations to ensure we’re not just growing fast, but growing profitably.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full monthly reconciliation process — categorize transactions, match to suppliers, and maintain organized, accurate financial records
  • Track and analyze cost of goods sold (food, beverage) and flag variances against targets
  • Monitor labor costs, prime cost ratios, and other key restaurant metrics
  • Manage cash flow, ensuring we have visibility on inflows, outflows, and runway
  • Oversee accounts payable — manage vendor relationships, payment schedules, and supplier statements
  • Support payroll processing and ensure statutory compliance (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF)
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and dashboards that ownership can actually use
  • Reconcile POS/Pesapal revenue against bank deposits
  • Coordinate with external accountants for tax filings and annual audits
  • Build and maintain budgets, tracking actuals against projections
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational inefficiencies
  • Set up and improve financial systems and processes as we scale

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance — hospitality or retail experience a strong plus
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; comfort with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar)
  • Understanding of restaurant economics — food cost, labor cost, prime cost, and how they connect
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to process high transaction volumes accurately
  • Strong analytical skills — you don’t just record numbers, you understand what they mean
  • Proactive communicator who can translate finance into plain language for non-finance team members
  • Self-starter comfortable building systems from scratch in a fast-moving environment
  • Integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information
  • CPA (K) certification or progress toward it is a plus, but not required
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard hours during month-end or audit periods
