Safari Doctors is seeking to recruit a Finance & Administration Manager to oversee and strengthen the organization’s finance, procurement, and human resources functions. This role will ensure strong financial management, compliance with donor and statutory requirements, and effective internal controls.
The Finance & Administration Manager will report directly to the Executive Director.
Position Summary
The Finance & Administration Manager will be responsible for overall financial management, procurement oversight, and human resource administration. The position will work closely with the Executive Director and senior management to support organizational effectiveness and donor compliance. This role is located in Lamu, Kenya (remote location to be considered on a case-by-case basis)

Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting: Develop budgets, forecast project expenditures, and prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial transactions, including procurement and payroll, comply with local laws, and donor regulations
- Treasury & Cash Management: Manage bank accounts, monitor cash flow, handle wire transfers, and oversee petty cash.
- Accounting Procedures: Oversee expense documentation, voucher preparation, and entry into accounting systems like QuickBooks or Oracle.
- Leadership: Supervise, train, and build the capacity of local finance staff.
- Audit Support: Coordinate with internal/external auditors to ensure compliance and resolve findings.
- Procurement: Oversee procurement planning and ensure transparent and compliant procurement processes. Manage supplier contracts and asset registers.
- Human Resources: Oversee HR policies, recruitment, onboarding, and exits; supervise payroll, staff records, and benefits administration; and ensure compliance with labor laws and donor HR requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration (master’s preferred). Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is required.
- Experience: 6-8+ years of financial management experience, particularly with donor-funded projects and with an NGO or nonprofit organization. – Demonstrated experience managing funds from both private and government donors
- Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Oracle) and MS Excel, with strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a matrix organization.
- Competitive skills: strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high level of integrity and professionalism; excellent organizational and reporting skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
