Job Purpose

The Field Security Supervisor (FSS) provides strategic and operational leadership for all on-site security functions, ensuring a coordinated and effective security posture across the Area of Responsibility (AOR). The role oversees both National Police Service personnel and contracted private security providers, aligning their efforts with organizational security objectives and standards. The FSS is accountable for the seamless execution of Stand-To procedures, emergency response coordination, and evacuation protocols, ensuring a state of continuous readiness. Through proactive risk management and disciplined operational control, the position safeguards personnel, protects critical assets, and sustains business continuity.

  • Supervise and coordinate daily site security operations, ensuring strict adherence to approved security policies, procedures, and directives issued by the Asset Protection Manager (APM).
  • Collaborate with the Asset Protection Manager to develop, review, and implement site-specific Emergency Evacuation Plans in alignment with the Gulf E&P Security Plan (GSP) and Emergency Evacuation Plan (EEP).
  • Ensure all personnel are adequately briefed on the established alert state system and always maintain full compliance.
  • Establish and sustain effective liaison with Sub-County security stakeholders including DCC, ACC, OCPD, DCI, OCS, DAPC, and local Chiefs to facilitate timely intelligence sharing and enhance situational awareness within the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Engage proactively with local administration and public security agencies to identify, mitigate, and manage emerging security risks.
  • Enforce full compliance with Journey Management procedures for all security operations and contractor movements.
  • Coordinate closely with the Officer Commanding (CIPU) and Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD)on all security intelligence, planning, and operational support matters.
  • Liaise with CIPU on administrative, payroll, and training requirements, ensuring compliance with the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate armed escort operations and vehicle security requirements, ensuring operational readiness at least 30 minutes prior to movement.
  • In collaboration with the Officer Commanding (OC CIPU), ensure Quick Response Force (QRF) teams maintain 24/7 operational readiness.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of Guard Force Commanders (GFCs) within assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring accountability and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with GFCs on personnel deployment, movement schedules, and vehicle dispatch to ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • Review and verify all reports and documentation submitted by Guard Force Commanders for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Oversee the continuous operation of security control rooms and radio communication systems, ensuring uninterrupted 24/7 functionality.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operational readiness of all security infrastructure, including buildings, lighting systems, perimeter fencing, gates, and access control barriers.
  • Monitor and address welfare concerns of security personnel, escalating issues appropriately to management.
  • Conduct regular and ad hoc security risk assessments, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate identified threats.
  • Deliver comprehensive security inductions and briefings to all new personnel, contractors, and visitors.
  • Participate in internal and external security meetings, briefings, and coordination forums as required.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely Daily Security Reports (DSRs) and other required documentation.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Asset Protection Manager or Country Manager in support of overall security objectives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, or Criminology or Diploma in Security Management with substantial relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in military, police, or other recognized security forces (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience in oil and gas security operations, preferably in remote high-risk environments.
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a private sector extractive industry (mining, drilling, or oil & gas).
  • Prior experience working with Specialised Police Formations or Sub-County Security Teams for Asset Protection will be considered an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of security risk management, emergency response, and evacuation planning.
  • Proven experience in journey management systems and convoy security operations.
  • Ability to engage and build effective relationships with government authorities, communities, and security stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent report writing and incident documentation skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to operate under pressure in high-risk environments.
