Key Responsibilities
Field Survey & Data Collection
- Conduct optic fiber field surveys ( FTTx, Metro and backbone)
- Capture as-built information for existing utilities
- Record GPS coordinates, photographs, and notes for all necessary survey points.
- Verify accessibility and feasibility of proposed routes.
Data Preparation & Analysis
- Clean, validate, and organize survey data for design readiness.
- Perform route analysis to determine the optimal fiber path considering utility corridors, road networks, and terrain.
- Prepare block diagrams and preliminary fiber layouts.
Network Design
- Design fiber distribution networks for both aerial and underground deployments.
- Prepare splicing diagrams, split ratios, and connectivity layouts from OLT to last Node (FAT)
- Develop fiber cable route plans with detailed pole assignments, trenching alignments, and duct utilization.
- Ensure GPON/OSP design compliance with project standards and industry best practices.
Documentation & Deliverables
- Produce AutoCAD-based route drawings, fiber layouts, and splicing diagrams.
- Generate BOQs, bill of materials (BOM), and survey reports.
- Document all passive components (ODFs, FATs, JBs, FDTs).
- Prepare final design packages (CAD drawings, PDF plans, Excel BOQs).
- Support data upload and route integration into Lepton planning (Smart Inventory).
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with project managers, NOC Engineers, and Implementation teams.
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback promptly.
Required Skills & Tools
- Strong experience in fiber network planning, design, and documentation.
- Proficiency in: AutoCAD, Google Earth / GIS tools for route mapping and design,GPON & OSP design principles, BOQ preparation & cost estimation
- Familiarity with Lepton or similar fiber planning platforms.
- Strong analytical, teamwork, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, GIS & Remote Sensing, Geomagnetic Engineering, Urban Planning, Land Surveying, Cartography, or a closely related field
