Engineering & Maintenance Manager Job
Job Description
Our client in the manufacturing industry seeks highly technical candidates for the position of Engineering and Maintenance Manager. The position will report to the Head of Production and will be responsible for oversight of the workshop inventory, designing out maintenance and modification of machinery among other duties.
Roles and Responsibilities
Technical Oversight and Guidance
- Provide technical expertise and guidance in electrical systems, fabrication, fuel management, and workshop operations.
- Oversee the planning and execution of maintenance and repair activities for engineering machinery and equipment (generators, boilers, compressors, etc).
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all engineering functions.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure seamless integration of engineering processes with manufacturing operations.
Team Management and Development
- Supervise and support assistant managers in their respective areas of responsibility (electrical, fabrication, workshop).
- Conduct performance evaluations, set performance goals, and provide coaching and mentoring.
- Identify training and development needs for engineering staff and implement relevant programs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.
- Ensure factory has sufficient resources for operations e.g. water supply, fuel and electricity.
Resource and Budget Management
- Manage resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, to ensure efficient and effective engineering operations.
- Develop and manage budgets for the engineering department, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Monitor and control expenses related to engineering equipment maintenance, repairs, and capital projects
Requirements
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certification in Energy, Engineering Management, Maintenance Management, or Lean Six Sigma would be beneficial.
- Industry Experience: 10+ years of experience in engineering and maintenance, preferably in the textile, manufacturing, or industrial sectors and at least 3–5 years in a leadership role overseeing engineering teams.
- Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 & 14001 standards for quality and environmental compliance.
- Experience with fleet management and fuel efficiency strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating quality control teams for continuous improvement.
- Ability to interpret data to drive process improvement and ensure compliance.
- Result-Oriented with Relentless Commitment to Customer Success: Demonstrates a focus on achieving outcomes and a dedicated commitment to driving customer satisfaction and success.
- Strong stakeholder management skills to coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Experience with textile manufacturing machinery is a strong plus.
