EHS & Quality Officer Job
- Reports to: General Manager.

- Gross Salary: Kshs 200,000 plus added benefits,
Our client is an established business based in Tanzania offering a range of beverage drinks. They are looking to hire an experienced EHS & Quality Officer to lead their EHS & Quality department. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with industry standards and promoting a culture of quality and safety within the organization. The successful candidate will report directly to the General Manager and will play a key role in enhancing the company’s operational excellence.
Responsibilities;
Quality Assurance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes and procedures.
- The main Lead/Champion of both Quality Control and Quality Assurance
- Monitor, evaluate and advice on quality of Raw materials, in-process product, finished product as well as products in the market.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and testing to identify quality issues.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to address quality concerns promptly.
- Develop SOP’s – Standard Operating Procedures for the departmental procedures and workflows.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of EHS & Quality control activities and results.
- Develop, implement and Review departmental SOP’s
- Prepare detailed quality reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and review of quality documentation and manuals.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for process improvement and work with teams to implement changes.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Benchmark processes and systems with the best.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in quality standards and regulations and adapt processes accordingly.
Training and Education:
- Provide training to employees on quality assurance processes and procedures.
- Coach, mentor and ensure career growth and development for self and reports.
- Promote awareness of quality standards and best practices.
- Provide EHS training to employees and contractors.
- Promote awareness of safety and environmental responsibilities.
- Stay updated on new regulations and communicate changes to the organization.
EHS Program Development:
- Recommend and approve all factory safety wear.
- Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate workplace hazards.
Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
- Maintain incident records and report to relevant authorities, as required.
Environmental Compliance:
- Monitor environmental performance and compliance with permits.
- Implement pollution prevention and waste management programs.
- Track and report on environmental metrics and goals.
Emergency Response:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Conduct drills and exercises to ensure preparedness.
- Coordinate with emergency services as needed.
Auditing and Reporting:
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections.
- Prepare reports and recommend improvements.
- Ensure all necessary permits and documentation are up to date
Performance Management:
- Set and review departmental budgets, objectives, metrics and KPI’s annually.
- Ensure all reports have their roles set out clearly.
- Participate in and conduct performance reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Food Science, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Professional certification in EHS (e.g., ISO, CSP, CIH, CHMM) is a plus.
- Proven 7 Years’ experience in EHS & Quality assurance management, preferably in alcoholic beverage manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to promoting safety and environmental sustainability.
