The Diocesan Administrative Secretary serves as the chief administrative officer of the diocese, responsible for the coordination of diocesan programs, communication, governance, and all Diocesan meetings. Working closely with the Diocesan Bishop, the Diocesan Secretary ensures that the administration of the diocese is conducted efficiently, transparently, and in accordance with the Constitution and Canons of the Anglican Church of Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
- Diocesan Administration and Governance
- Serve as the principal administrative officer of the diocese, ensuring effective implementation of diocesan policies, decisions, and strategic plans.
- Convene and coordinate meetings of the Diocesan Synod, Standing Committee, and Diocesan Board of Finance as prescribed by the Canons.
- Maintain official diocesan registers, minutes, and records, ensuring confidentiality and integrity in line with canonical requirements.
- Liaise between the Diocese and the Provincial Office of the ACK, as well as with parishes, institutions, and ecumenical partners.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, constitutional, and canonical obligations of the Diocese.
- Financial and Administrative Oversight
- Supervise the diocesan administrative and support staff.
- Oversee diocesan financial management in collaboration with the Diocesan Treasurer and the Board of Finance.
- Facilitate accountability and transparency in stewardship of diocesan property and funds.
- Support budgeting, project planning, and resource mobilization initiatives.
- Communication and Coordination
- Act as the official channel of communication between the Bishop, clergy, parishes, and diocesan institutions.
- Prepare and circulate pastoral, administrative, and policy communications as directed by the Bishop and Synod.
- Coordinate diocesan events, conferences, and clergy retreats.
- Represent the Diocese in provincial and ecumenical forums as delegated.
- Records and Legal Matters
- Ensure safe custody of diocesan records, archives, and legal documents.
- Maintain accurate databases of clergy, lay leaders, and parishes.
- Support the Bishop in matters of clergy licensing, appointments, and canonical documentation.
- Pastoral and Missional Support
- Promote the mission and vision of the Anglican Church of Kenya as articulated in its Constitution and Five Marks of Mission.
- Support clergy and lay ministries through effective administration and pastoral presence.
- Model servant leadership and uphold Christian ethics and integrity in all aspects of diocesan life.

Skills & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Theology, Social Sciences, or related field (A Master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Financial Management skills will be an added advantage
- At least five (5) years’ experience in senior church administration or institutional leadership.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Constitution and Canons of the Anglican Church of Kenya.
- Demonstrated skills in organizational management, communication, and leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital record systems.
- Proven capacity to work collaboratively with clergy, laity, and partner institutions.
