Role Summary

The Depot Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth at the depot, ensuring accurate inventory management, and maintaining strong cash control practices. The role also focuses on building strong customer relationships and maintaining awareness of market trends and competition
within the Gikomba area.

Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Achieve and exceed depot sales targets.
  • Drive customer acquisition, repeat business, and product upselling.
  • Contribute to consistent revenue growth through proactive selling.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure minimal or zero variance.
  • Monitor stock movement and ensure proper storage and organization.
  • Support timely replenishment and availability of key products.

Cash Management

  • Enforce strict adherence to cash handling procedures.
  • Reconcile daily sales and ensure accuracy of transactions.
  • Maintain accountability and security of all cash received.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service at all times.
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.

Market Awareness

  • Monitor competitor activity and pricing within the market.
  • Track customer preferences and buying trends.
  • Share relevant market insights with the sales and management teams.

Depot Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the depot.
  • Ensure products are well displayed and accessible to customers.
  • Uphold professional conduct and presentation standards.

KPIs

  • Revenue Performance: Achievement of sales targets and contribution to depot growth.
  • Stock Accuracy: Minimal stock variance and proper inventory management.
  • Cash Compliance: Accuracy in daily reconciliation and adherence to cash handling procedures.
  • Customer Growth: New customer acquisition and repeat business.
  • Market Insight: Timely and relevant reporting on market trends and competitor activity.

What It Takes to Succeed

  • Strong sales drive and ability to meet and exceed targets.
  • High level of accountability and integrity, especially in cash handling.
  • Attention to detail in inventory management and reporting.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Basic understanding of market dynamics within informal retail environments.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in sales, preferably in retail, B2B, or informal market environments.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience managing a customer portfolio, including acquisition, retention, and growth.
  • Experience handling cash transactions and daily reconciliations in a high-volume environment is an added advantage
