Key Responsibilities:
Leadership in Quality Improvement:
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives within the nursing department.
- Coordinate with nursing staff to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address gaps in care delivery.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to nursing care, patient outcomes, and process efficiencies.
- Use data to identify trends, areas of risk, and opportunities for improvement.
Process Improvement:
- Implement process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) within the nursing and the Hospital.
- Work with nursing teams to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and enhance patient care.
Training and Development:
- Provide ongoing education and training to nursing staff on quality improvement principles, tools, and best practices.
- Facilitate CMEs, workshops and training sessions to promote a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
Performance Metrics:
- Successful implementation and sustainability of quality improvement projects.
- Improvement in key nursing care indicators (e.g., patient satisfaction, reduction in hospital-acquired infections, etc.).
- Positive feedback from nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams regarding CQI initiatives.
- Compliance with regulatory standards and successful audit outcomes.
Competencies and Qualifications
- Bachelor of science in nursing (BScN
- At least 2 years’ experience in a healthcare quality improvement role
- Must be registered as a Nurse by the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Must have a Valid Practice license
- BLS/ACLS training
- Certification in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) or Healthcare Quality Management is an added advantage
