  • Conduct gross and microscopic examination of surgical specimens and cytological samples to support accurate diagnosis.
  • Provide expert clinical consultation on test selection, interpretation of laboratory results, and further diagnostic investigations.
  • Oversee laboratory operations and ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality reporting of results.
  • Lead and maintain the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with national and international standards (ISO 15189).
  • Supervise, mentor, and support laboratory technologists to enhance performance and professional development.
  • Review, implement, and improve laboratory protocols, procedures, and technologies to enhance diagnostic efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to support effective patient care and treatment planning.

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
  • Master of Medicine (MMed) in Pathology or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB) with a valid practicing license.
  • Proven experience working in a busy hospital or diagnostic laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnostic pathology and laboratory quality assurance processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work effectively under pressure.
