The Community Oral Health Officer will be responsible for providing high-quality dental care to patients, diagnosing and treating various oral health conditions, and promoting preventive oral health practices. The role requires collaboration with other healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive patient care and contribute to the hospital’s oral health initiatives and programs.
Key Focus Areas
- Patient Care – Diagnose, treat, and manage various dental conditions while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Preventive Oral Health – Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, promote preventive measures, and implement oral health programs.
- Collaboration and Teamwork – Work with healthcare professionals to deliver integrated care, share knowledge, and support hospital oral health initiatives.
Responsibilities
Financial Perspective
- Manage dental supplies, equipment, and materials efficiently to minimize waste and optimize resources.
- Accurately document and code dental procedures to ensure proper billing and maximize revenue generation.
- Provide cost-effective treatment while balancing patient needs, financial constraints, and insurance coverage.
Customer & Patient Perspective
- Deliver high-quality dental care with a focus on patient comfort and satisfaction.
- Improve patient engagement, communication, and education to build trust and enhance experiences.
- Foster long-term relationships by demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and compassion in all patient interactions.
Internal Processes & Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure optimal care and outcomes.
- Contribute to a collaborative and supportive work environment with interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in oral health programs, outreach, and hospital initiatives to promote community dental health.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience.
- Valid Practicing License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Commitment to professional ethics, empathy, and continuous improvement in oral health services.
