Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid (Office / Field) role for a Civil Design Engineer, located in Nairobi County, Kenya. The role will be to
- Prepare Design Plans: Develop detailed designs using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) or BIM (Building Information Modelling) software for structures like houses, schools, hotels etc..
- Perform Engineering Calculations: Analyze load, stress, hydraulic flow, and other structural and environmental considerations to ensure designs meet required codes and safety standards.
- Review and Interpret Drawings: Evaluate architectural or survey drawings to integrate civil designs effectively.
- Site Layout Planning: Design site grading, utility networks, and stormwater management systems.
- Construction Oversight: Provide engineering support during construction to ensure the project is built according to design specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of work, check materials, and test systems (e.g., soil compaction, concrete strength).
- Site Inspections: Conduct site visits to inspect ongoing work, identify design implementation issues, and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Skills in Civil Engineering Design and Civil Engineering
- Experience in Stormwater Management and Land Development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work on-site in Nairobi County, Kenya
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus
