Jumba Ruins Monsoon is a hidden gem on the Kenyan coast, located right on the beach, away from the crowded beaches further south. Known for its informal and unpretentious style, this serene and off-the-beaten-track restaurant offers a unique dining experience. The seafood is fresh from local fishermen and the menu is more elaborate than most beach restaurants in East Africa. Signature dishes include deep-fried oysters, lobster with seafood pasta, and richly seasoned grilled octopus. The wine selection is also notable, making it a favorite spot for business people and expatriates who often spend entire weekends here.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Restaurant Chef, located in Mombasa County, Kenya. The Restaurant Chef will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of dishes to the highest quality standards. They will ensure all food hygiene and safety protocols are followed, manage kitchen staff, maintain an organized and efficient kitchen environment, and develop new recipes and menu items. Additionally, the chef will work closely with the service staff to ensure a superior dining experience for all guests.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Food Preparation and Cooking
- Knowledge of Food Hygiene and Safety protocols
- Strong Culinary Skills including menu development and recipe creation
- Experience in Food Service
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Prior experience in a similar role is a plus
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred
