The Caretaker will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and security of the property. This includes ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the premises, overseeing minor repairs, coordinating with contractors when necessary, and providing support to residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect the buildings, grounds, and common areas to ensure they are clean, well-maintained, and safe.
  • Perform or coordinate minor repairs and maintenance (e.g., plumbing, electrical, lighting, locks, minor painting).
  • Supervise and coordinate with cleaning staff, gardeners, and security personnel.
  • Monitor water, electricity, and other utility systems and report anomalies or shortages.
  • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and request replenishments when needed.
  • Ensure waste is properly collected and disposed of.
  • Act as a point of contact for residents’ minor issues or requests.
  • Report any security issues, damage, or incidents to management promptly.
  • Oversee entry and exit of contractors, visitors, and delivery personnel.
  • Maintain clear records of maintenance activities and resident feedback.
  • KCSE Certificate; technical training in maintenance, plumbing, or electrical work is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar caretaker, property management, or maintenance role.
  • Hands-on knowledge of general repairs, electrical systems, plumbing, and gardening.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Trustworthy and discreet with residents’ privacy.

Working Conditions

  • May require occasional evening or weekend availability for emergencies.
  • Should be physically fit and able to perform light to moderate manual work.
