Duties and Responsibilities

• Formulate publishing strategies, policies, plans and budgets for the development of publishing of quality and superior products and services.
• Develop and implement of an effective framework of interpreting, monitoring and evaluating the education and learning areas curriculum designs and developing publishing plans to guide the development of quality publications.
• Supervise the development and implementation of an effective framework for a publishing quality review and assurance.
• Manage the intellectual property of the Institutes products and services.
• Guide on enhancement and optimal use of technology as a business facilitation tool.
• Review production estimates to ensure cost-effectiveness, accuracy and timely provision of production cost information to internal and external clients for informed decision-making.
• Guide on production specifications, quality standards and operating procedures to ensure that all printed and published materials meet institutional, technical, and customer quality requirements.
• Supervise, mentor and evaluate the performance of direct reports, providing leadership, technical guidance, and capacity building to ensure effective achievement of departmental objectives and optimal staff productivity.
• Undertake analysis of performance and recommends strategies required for improvement.
• Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good citizenship within the Department.
• Prepare quarterly and annual reports for the Department

Requirements

• Cumulative twelve (12) years’, three (3) of which should be at Principal Printing & Publishing Officer KICD Grade 5 or comparable position;
• Master’s degree in Printing Technology, Media Production, Communication, or related field;
• Bachelor’s degree in Printing Technology, Graphic Communication, Media Production or related qualification from a recognized institution;
• Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Demonstrated high level of professional competence and leadership; and
• Proficiency in computer applications
