Adventure & Entertainment Coordinator role at Naro Moru River Lodge, organizing activities and managing mountain operations. Requires KCSE C Plain, professional training in Tour Guiding, membership in the Mt. Kenya Guides & Porters Association, and experience as a hotel animator. Full-time, on-site role.

  • Prepare entertainment and recreational activities schedule on weekly basis and advertise activities on the information boards as necessary.
  • Organize special events and programs during high season, special occasions and festivities in liaison with other Heads of departments.
  • Responsible for sourcing of entertainment groups during festivities.
  • Motivate guests to take part in activities by engaging them in friendly interactions.
  • Ensures that all the music & sports equipment necessary to carry out these activities is available and well maintained.
  • Ensure appropriate piped music is playing in the bars & restaurant outlets as per prescribed genres and timings.
  • Act as the resident DJ-disc jockey and ensure themed music or disco nights as per guest demands.
  • Act as the in house team building facilitator for groups using NMRL sports facilities, teambuilding grounds and challenge course
  • Assist guests on guided nature walks within the lodge premises.
  • Maintain accessibility of the marked nature trails and Mountain Biking routes.
  • Manning the administrative Mountain office at the lodge on rotational basis. 
  • As the MO coordinator will work closely with the front office department to receive all mountain safari enquiries and respond to them accordingly.
  • Upon booking confirmation, will plan for / implement itineraries and related logistics ahead of time.
  • Receive mountain guests and team building groups arriving at the reception courteously and conducting guest briefings. 
  • Work closely with the KWS mountain rescue team to ensure that all trips are conducted safely as per their safety operations procedures.
  • Request and prepare for all mountain caretaker foods as per agreed schedules.
  • Prepare, designate duties to mountain personnel and circulate the monthly Mountain operations duty rota.
  • Accurately recording daily staff attendance.
  • Preparing monthly manager’s reports, annual departmental budgets. 
  • Plan work assignments for the driver and vehicle. 
  • Custodian of all mountain operations, entertainment & sporting operating equipment, responsible for maintaining all inventories and take part in monthly stock take.
  • Report any repairs or damages of the same to the R&M supervisor.
  • Ensures the safe custody of all operational documents i.e. MO. Application forms, charge vouchers, confirmation vouches, booking vouchers etc.
  • Assist MO guides in documentation and receipting of MO collections during shift changes as per prescribed accounting procedures.
  • Ensure proper billing/ charging and capture of MO revenues in the Fidelio system at the front desk.
  • Ensure the challenge course facilities and our Mountain stations are effectively managed by liaising with maintenance, gardening, and caretaking. 
  • Closely working with the sales team to promote mountain operations, lodge activities and events.
  • Any other duties as required 
  • O- Level certification- KCSE C Plain
  • Preferred professional training and certification in Tour Guiding from KUC/ KWSTI or a recognized institution.
  • Membership to Mt. Kenya Guides & Porters Association  
  • Experienced in mountain climbing/hiking. 
  • Trained & Certified First Aid rescuer.
  • Trained in wilderness survival tactics under a recognized institution or facility. 
  • Holder of a Valid Mt. Guide Tourism License.
  • Conversant with designated Mt. Kenya hiking routes
  • Must be physically and medically fit to walk for long hours and work in a low temperature environment.
  • Experience in technical climbing will be an added advantage 
  • Excellent customer care and selling skills
  • Have the ability to make appropriate decisions during stressful or critical situations
  • Have strong communication skills and ability to interact and converse with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Must be patient, respectful, and empathetic with clients acting professionally at all times.
  • Have basic understanding of changing weather patterns 
  • Must have previous experience as a hotel animator
  • Must have an outgoing personality.
