Our client is seeking to hire an accountant to provide and maintain the Company books of account for timely decision-making, accurate reporting and detecting and safeguarding losses arising from fraud and/or human error.

Accounts Operation:

  • Custodian and responsible for financial record keeping
  • Responsible for the safe custody of cheque books, payment vouchers and receipts.
  • Raising payment vouchers and ensuring allocation of costs is done as per approved chart of accounts
  • Prepare all payments being made and ensure that there is substantial documental evidence to support the payment. Ensure the following documents are attached: LPO, Invoice, Delivery note, GRN and a report in case of a service.
  • Ensure that all payments are approved as per the Company Finance policy and procedure manual.
  • Reconcile all creditors’ accounts on monthly basis and ensure that all creditors are paid on time.
  • Ensure the company accounts are correctly posted in Tally accounting software.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate company books of account.
  • Manage petty cash expenditure, including money advanced to staff as imprest and ensure it is accounted for in time and records are maintained.
  • Maintain record of rent due and payments of the same.
  • Assist in preparing management accounts on monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Carry out filing of Finance department, retrieval and re-filing of documents and ensuring documents are available when required.
  • Prepare monthly reports on petty cash balances, supplier balances, Assets register and staff imprest balances.

Banking Matters:

  • Carry out periodical bank accounts reconciliation.

VAT Control and Government Taxes:

  • Assist in the filling and remittance of all other statutory obligations (Withholding Tax, HELB, NSSF, NHIF)

Financial Audit:

  • Assist in half year and annual external financial audits.

Business Information, Support, Analysis and Reporting:

  • Provide accounts analysis as may be required from time to time.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasting activities.
  • A business degree from a recognized university (including BCom) – not a parallel degree.
  • At least CPAK Part II qualification.
  • 3+ year’s relevant experience in a busy SME, Manufacturing, Agriculture or a Distribution.
  • Age: 28 – 33 year old.
  • Good public speaking, communication, and customer service skills.
