CV Length In Kenya: 5 Proven Rules For How Many Pages To Use
Find the right CV length in Kenya. Learn how many pages to use at each career level, what to cut and how to keep recruiters reading past page one.

A recruiter with fifty applications will spend less than six seconds on your CV. Many Kenyan candidates waste that time on page one with a long personal details block, an objective statement and a list of hobbies. Their best results sit on page three, where nobody reads. The right CV length fixes this problem. Advice on CV length in Kenya also varies.
One guide says two pages, another says four, and job seekers end up guessing. This article settles the question. You will learn how many pages to use at each career level, which sections to cut first, how to place your strongest results on page one and how to check your CV length before you send it.
What is the right CV length in Kenya?
Two pages work for most people. Employers read CVs on phones and in shared inboxes, so shorter documents get more attention. Treat two pages as your default and earn every page beyond that. Our guide on how to write a CV covers the full structure. This article focuses on how much of it to keep.
- Match your CV length to your career level
Fresh graduates and people with under three years of experience should use one to two pages. A graduate with a single internship has no material for page three. Professionals with three to ten years of experience should use two pages and move to three only when each extra line adds a result.
Senior managers, directors and consultants with more than ten years often use three pages. Academics and researchers sometimes need four because of publications. Beyond four pages, a CV reads like a file.
- Cut what does not support the job you want
Give jobs older than ten years one line each. Remove the objective statement, the hobbies list, your photo, your national ID number and your marital status.
Employers do not need them to shortlist you. Keep a profile summary of three to four lines. Nowadays, referees are not a necessary addition, but you can put them when a job description asks for them.
3. Put your best results on page one
The first Page decides whether the recruiter reads page two. Use the top third for your name, contact details, profile summary and two or three achievements with numbers. For example, compare two lines. Before: Responsible for handling customer calls, answering emails and updating records. After: Resolved 40 customer calls a day and kept satisfaction at 95 per cent.
The second line is shorter and carries more information. Write every duty line this way, and your CV length drops without losing content.
- Give each job a fixed limit
Give each recent job four to six lines. Merge similar roles at the same employer under one heading. Group short contracts into one entry, such as Contract assignments, 2021 to 2023, and list the key results beneath it. Use a font size of 10.5 to 11, margins of about 2 cm and clear section headings. Do not shrink the font to save a page. A crowded page loses readers faster than a longer page.
- Check your CV length before you send it
Save the CV as a PDF and open it on your phone. Make sure no page holds only three or four lines. If the advert states a page limit, follow it. Read the first half of page one and check whether it shows your job title, your strongest result and your contact details.
If it does not, move them up. Send a tailored version for each role, with the skills named in the advert near the top.
