How LinkedIn Played a Pivotal Role in My Job Search

Faith Ntoiti

LinkedIn is the top professional social networking site used by both employers and job seekers. Employers use it to search for suitable candidates, and share work-related information, while job seekers use it to learn about new opportunities.

In today’s job market, a strong online presence is essential to get noticed by employers, network, and showcase your skills and experience.

It is therefore important to have it updated and be comprehensive about your current skills, experience, and goals.

Through LinkedIn, Faith Makena Ntoiti learned about the role of Business Development we had advertised for our client ZK Teco and after applying, she stood out in a competition.

Here is her story and a few lessons you can pick.

Tell us about yourself. What is your professional qualification?

I am a passionate sales and marketing professional with over 3 years of experience in the company that develops exceptional internet solutions for the global market, premium drinks business, and security systems service activities sector.

I have a deep understanding of the market and a talent for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and zealous about driving growth and success for organizations by leveraging my skills and expertise in the industry.

How long had you been looking for a job?

I have been looking a job for 3 months because I wanted a new experience to help me advance in my career.

What has your job search experience been like?

It has been a journey of exploration because I utilized various tools to know the new openings. I also networked and colleagues, friends and family referrals played a crucial role in my journey.

Are there any specific challenges you encountered in your job search process?

Not really.

Where did you hear about Corporate Staffing and the job opportunity?

I learned about Corporate Staffing Services through LinkedIn and Yes, and I would highly recommend anyone looking for a job.

How was the application and interview process?

The process was professional and I went through two stages of the interview, and I interacted with friendly interviewers and the process was smooth.

Did you think you would get the job?

I can’t say I was very sure but I did my best, let God handle the rest and am glad that I got the job.

What do you think employers look for or check when selecting suitable candidates?

Apart from your experience, skills, and qualifications, employers check your personality and your goals to see if they align.

Many professionals continue to look for jobs in this competitive job market. What is your advice to them?

Customize your CV for every job that you apply to, set goals and know what you want, seek guidance from career advisors, and give it a shot with confidence.

What do you think is the secret to getting a job in this competitive market?

There is no clear secret but you need to put a little effort to present yourself as a top candidate, invest in networking, Upskill, and work on yourself as a professional.
