How Do You Keep Your Sales Leads Warm?

By Ruoro Kairu

In Sales, you meet with a lot of potential customers. However, not all of them will be willing or can buy your products and services at the time. These people may buy your products at a later date or when the need arises.

When you look at successful brands, you’ll notice most of them are always advertising their services and products. Through this, they ensure to remind the consumer that they are the preferred brand. In a way, these advertisements help the consumer to remember the brand the next time they need to use the service.

While you may not have the time or resources to advertise your product on TV and billboards, you can still have the consumer thinking about your products.

Here is how to keep the customer thinking about your products.

1. Identify your consumers

Different customers are at different levels. There are those who are willing to purchase once you remind them a few times, and there are those you constantly have to engage.

When you know what level a customer is at, you can easily create a message that reaches out to them.

For example, for a new customer, you want to sell them the benefits of using the product. For a return customer, you may want to focus on how they can purchase or how they can get in touch.

2. Deliver relevant content

Once you’ve already identified and segmented your consumers, come up with relevant content for each category.

Essentially, what you’re looking to do is to lead the consumer closer to purchasing your product.

For example, if you spoke to a potential customer once, and they had some level of interest in your products, what you’d be aiming to do is inform the potential customers. For a return customer, you can inform them about new products and developments in your products.

Create different content for your customers, and share with them regularly. For example, you can choose to email the consumers on a weekly or monthly basis.

3. Stay in touch

As mentioned earlier, top companies spend a lot on advertising. This helps the consumer always remember them.

In Sales, you too have to keep your products and services at the top of your consumer’s mind. You can achieve this by connecting with consumers.

For instance, connect with them on social platforms keep engaging with them –beyond just selling. For example, you can congratulate when they achieve a milestone.

Being an effective salesperson is more than just selling products. You should endeavor to create a relationship with your customers.
