Banks in Kenya are among top companies that hire fresh graduates and those with minimal experience.
Bank jobs are popular with young Kenyans as the starting salary is reasonable, starting at an average of K’sh 40,000 compared to other industries that don’t pay as well. Common jobs available in banks are in customer service, cashier, operations, finance, and credit.

If you want to stand out as a fresh graduate looking for a job in a bank, you need to know what employers are looking for. Employers expect you to be a person of integrity, to have great customer service skills, and to demonstrate initiative. You also need to have good communication skills and be able to interact with customers from diverse backgrounds.

Below is a sample cover letter for a bank job when there’s no job advertised.

RE: APPLICATION FOR AN ENTRY LEVEL JOB AT YOUR BANK

I graduated last year with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from the University of Nairobi where I attained a second class upper grade. I also possess a Diploma in Business Administration from Kenya Institute of Administration.

The reason I am writing is to kindly request you to consider me for an entry level opening in your customer service or marketing department. As you can see from my attached CV, I served as a business development intern at Wajube micro finance for a period of six months. During that period I was exposed to different financial products, and I learnt how to market the same to segmented customers. Part of my business development role was to offer customer service by answering queries and doing follow ups with interested customers.

The internship also helped me develop interpersonal skills and I was able to relate well, not only with my colleagues, but also with customers from different backgrounds. I am able to produce quality work within strict deadlines, and as I am a person of integrity, you can count on me to work with minimal supervision.

I’d be happy to discuss how I can contribute to the success of the bank and I’d be glad to have an interview with you.
My salary expectations are flexible and dependent on your budget, as what I am keen on is gaining experience as I add value to the bank.

    I wish to charge my line of duty but in da same line of my career…I have worked in the field of marketing but for knw I want to go to customer care or administration ..which I have participated minimal
