Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor Intern to join our team. The intern will assist in measurement, tendering, procurement and gain a hands-on exposure in the construction Industry.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in taking-off and measurement from drawings and project documents.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and Bills of Quantities (BQ).
- Support the tendering process, including quotation comparison from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist in preparation of interim applications, including completed work, items on site, and subcontractors, and timely submission to the Client.
- Assist with generating payments and distribute notices to suppliers and subcontractors, including the measurement of works and differences executed to evaluate final costs and accounts.
- Assist in procurement coordination and sourcing of materials.
- Assist in monitoring project progress, budget, and material usage on site.
- Support documentation control, including drawings, reports, and coordination letters.
- Assist in maintaining vendor and subcontractor databases and floating enquiries.
- Attend progress meetings when required and perform any other duties or tasks assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Economics or a related field.
- Membership of a professional body i.e. Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK)/Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) or both.
- Basic knowledge of construction processes and cost management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Strong analytical, problem solving and coordination skills.
- High level of integrity, reliability and attention to detail.
