Job Purpose
This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in a given field. This will be the entry grade for Masters’ degree holders into this cadre.
Responsibilities
- Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Lead and manage teams in conducting research individually or collaboratively.
- Disseminate research findings through publishing peer-reviewed outputs and national and international learned conferences.
- Supervise, advise, and mentor postgraduate students and their research.
- Write proposals for research and development funding.
- Significantly contribute to the development of academic policies.
- Lead and coordinate research activities in their subject areas.
- Develop collaborative links and research partnerships with other researchers and institutions within and outside the university.
- Participate in curriculum development and review.
- Guide and mentor early-stage researchers in their training, skills acquisition, and career development in their specialization.
- Examination preparation, administration, and management.
- Participate in administration and management of departmental programmes and activities.
- Undertake community outreach activities.
- Where appropriate, provide leadership in the department or school.
- Participate in the development and review of academic programmes.
- Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars.
- Perform any other related duty assigned from time to time.
Minimum Requirements:
- Evidence of or registration for PhD.
- An earned Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited and recognized University.
- At least eight (8) equivalent publication points from credible refereed journal articles.
- Be registered with relevant professional body where applicable and in good standing.
- Evidence of Community Outreach/Engagement.
- Relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Tenure of Service
- The position of Tutorial Fellow shall be on contract terms.
