Role Overview
The Healthy U Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing and executing a dynamic social media strategy that increases brand awareness, drives engagement, builds community, and supports sales across all digital channels. The ideal candidate is passionate about health and wellness, up-to-date with the latest trends, and skilled at turning brand stories into engaging content.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the company’s brand identity, marketing goals, and seasonal campaigns.
- Plan and manage a monthly content calendar across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Create simple graphic assets, animations and motion graphics for social media campaigns.
- Develop reactive content around trends, cultural moments and wellness conversations that are relevant to the Healthy U audience.
- Attend store openings, events, activations, supplier visits and community initiatives to capture real-time content.
- Produce content featuring products, customers, influencers, nutritionists and internal team members.
- Take ownership of content production from concept through to final publication, ensuring all content is aligned with brand guidelines.
- Work closely with the wider marketing and operational teams to align social content with campaigns, events, product launches, and promotions.
Content Creation & Management
- Create and produce engaging, on-brand content directly, while also managing external creators, photographers, videographers and influencers where required.
- Write captivating captions that are authentic and informative, blending health tips, product highlights, and lifestyle content.
- Lead content shoots and coordinate larger-scale productions, while personally capturing day-to-day content for social media channels. Manage user-generated content (UGC) and influencer partnerships, ensuring seamless collaboration and amplification.
Community Engagement
- Build and nurture an active online community by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely, friendly, and professional manner. You will work with a team of customer representatives that answer all technical/medical questions but your role is to build the wider community elements.
- Initiate conversations, polls, challenges, and Q&A sessions to boost engagement and encourage two-way dialogue.
- Identify and engage with relevant influencers, wellness advocates, and brand ambassadors to expand reach.
- Attend HU organised or sponsored events, showcasing our community reach.
Monitoring, Reporting & Optimisation
- Track and analyse social media performance metrics (engagement, reach, follower growth, click-through rates, conversions, etc.) and create monthly performance reports.
- Use data insights to refine content strategy, experiment with new formats, and optimize campaigns for better performance.
- Stay up-to-date with social media trends, platform updates, and emerging best practices, applying fresh ideas to keep the company at the forefront of digital marketing.
Campaigns & Activations
- Support digital campaigns for key brand events like marathon sponsorships, product launches, in-store activations, and seasonal promotions.
- Collaborate with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and external partners to deliver high-quality, cohesive content.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience creating high-performing organic social content.
- Strong portfolio showcasing photography, videography, video editing and social-first storytelling.
- Experience creating content that achieves measurable engagement, reach and community growth.
- Ability to work confidently both behind and in front of the camera.
- Experience producing content for retail, wellness, lifestyle, fitness or consumer brands preferred. Hands-on experience with content creation tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite, etc.) and social media management tools (Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Later, etc.).
- Excellent copywriting skills with a knack for making health and wellness content engaging and accessible.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
- Passionate about health, fitness, nutrition, and wellness trends — a genuine interest in the company’s mission is a big plus.
Key Competencies
- Strong videography, photography and editing skills.
- Advanced understanding of Instagram Reels, TikTok and short-form video trends.
- Excellent copywriting and storytelling abilities.
- Ability to identify and react quickly to emerging trends and cultural moments.
- Comfortable appearing on camera and directing others during content creation.
- Skilled in content planning, production and post-production workflows.
- Strong understanding of audience behaviour and platform algorithms.
- Highly organised and capable of managing multiple content streams simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and brand consistency.
- Results-driven with a passion for testing, learning and improving performance.
