The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, calibration, and validation of a diverse portfolio of analytical, process, and laboratory instruments at client sites across the food and beverage, brewing, and pharmaceutical sectors.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role that demands both electromechanical aptitude and strong documentation discipline. The role sits at the intersection of practical instrumentation and metrological rigor, making it ideal for a technician who takes precision seriously.
Key Responsibilities
Instrument Service & Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and reactive corrective maintenance on analytical, process, and laboratory instruments at client sites.
- Execute fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and corrective repair on instruments including but not limited to:
- Dissolved gas meters (CO₂, O₂, TPO) Turbidity meters, photometers, and colorimeters — online and benchtop models pH, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen transmitters and electrodes Laboratory balances, ovens, centrifuges, and drying instruments. NIR analyzers and grain quality instruments (moisture, protein, test weight). Water purification systems and process transmitters Online gas Detectors CO2,NH3..etc
- Carry out electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical fault isolation using appropriate diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure calibrators, loop calibrators).
- Replace defective PCBs, sensors, electro-pneumatic actuators, pumps, and display modules, sourcing parts through established channels.
Calibration & Measurement Assurance
- Perform traceable calibration of instruments against reference standards, covering temperature, pressure, pH, turbidity, dissolved gases, mass, and photometric parameters.
- Apply established calibration procedures and uncertainty evaluation methodologies consistent with GUM (JCGM 100:2008) and relevant EURAMET calibration guidelines (cg-11, DKD-R 5-7, DKD-R 6-1).
- Maintain calibration records, reference standard logs, and traceability chains in compliance with applicable quality system requirements.
- Verify 4–20 mA analog output loop integrity and SCADA/DCS signal fidelity on process instruments post-service.
- Document and report out-of-tolerance conditions, applying Guardband or decision rules as required.
Technical Documentation & Reporting
- Generate comprehensive, client-ready service and calibration reports covering: instrument identification, observed faults, corrective actions, calibration results, measurement uncertainties, and post-service recommendations.
- Classify and communicate findings using a structured severity framework (CRITICAL → MAJOR → ADVISORY), ensuring clients receive actionable guidance.
- Maintain accurate field service records, site visit logs, parts usage registers, and calibration due-date schedules.
- Produce technical reports suitable for submission to quality assurance, production management, and regulatory audit teams at client sites.
Client Engagement & Technical Advisory

Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Adhere strictly to site-specific HSE requirements, including confined space entry protocols for tank and vessel inspections (bright beer tanks, aluminium process tanks).
- Apply ATEX/IECEx equipment selection principles in explosive atmosphere environments where applicable.
- Comply with GMP, GHP, and pharmaceutical cleanroom access requirements when servicing pharmaceutical clients.
- Conduct pre-job risk assessments (JSA/HIRA) and complete permit-to-work (PTW) documentation as required by client sites.

- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Applied Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on field service experience with analytical, process, or laboratory instrumentation in an industrial or laboratory environment.
- Demonstrable experience servicing at least two of the following instrument categories: dissolved gas analyzers, turbidity/photometry meters, pH/conductivity transmitters, laboratory balances, or NIR/grain analyzers.
- Competency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools: digital multimeters, clamp meters, pressure calibrators, loop calibrators (HART communicators), and basic oscilloscopes.
- Valid driving license (Class B/BCE) — frequent travel to client sites is an added advantage
- Strong written English with a proven ability to produce technical service reports that are accurate, legible, and client-appropriate.
- Experience in the food, beverage, brewing, dairy, or grain processing industry, with familiarity of quality-critical production environments is required.
- Exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing environments and associated GMP documentation standards.
- Familiarity with dissolved gas measurement technologies (membrane sensor, galvanic cell, optical fluorescence).
- Working knowledge of SCADA/DCS integration for process transmitters (4–20 mA, HART, Modbus, Profibus).
- Experience with water purification systems (RO, UV, electrodeionisation) and their associated instrumentation.
- Candidates who can demonstrate working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories — will be given strong preference during shortlisting.
