Job summary

We are looking for a highly experienced and dependable Senior Electrician to oversee electrical systems at our hatcheries and poultry breeder farms. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems critical to farm operations, including incubators, lighting, and standby generators.

Key responsibilities

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems and equipment including incubators, buildings, ventilations, and all other equipment in the production sites
• Ensure proper and safe wiring for all poultry houses, cold storage, and hatchery units.
• Supervise and mentor junior electricians and maintenance assistants.
• Monitor and maintain power backup systems to prevent outages affecting hatchery operations.
• Coordinate routine and preventive maintenance schedules to minimize disruptions.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical blueprints.
• Ensure full compliance with Kenya Power requirements and the Kenya Electricity Regulatory Authority (EPRA) standards.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers on farm electrical projects and installations.
• Maintain accurate logs of inspections, repairs, and installations.
• Enforce electrical safety protocols in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Kenya.
• Participate in biosecurity training and adhere to farm sanitation protocols.
• Monitor efficiency of maintenance and track related expenses to control the budget for maintenance
• Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
• Work with farm managers and officers to understand maintenance requirements
• Order machinery for new expansion and manage machinery installation
• Organize local and oversea technical service when necessary
• Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule

General Management

• Prepare maintenance checklists and SOPs for breeding farms and hatcheries
• Provide reports to your supervisor and company management as requested
• Conduct planning and budgeting, including annual budget, material requisitions, and workforce planning
• Ensure proper reporting of inventory of spare partsKeep records of all maintenance activities
• Keep records of breakdowns, spares and fuel used at every site

Qualifications / Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Electrical Maintenance preferably in a Hatchery.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and maintenance management software.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, Swahili, and other local languages.
• Highly detail-oriented and process-driven, with a strong sense of reliability and responsibility.
• Ability to make important decisions and handle the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines.
• A confident, mature approach, demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols to ensure safe operations.
