Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant who will oversee the financial management of the SACCO, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, financial controls, and organizational policies. The role requires a highly skilled and experienced professional to manage day-to-day accounting operations, provide strategic financial guidance, and support decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management and Reporting:
   • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
   • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial planning processes.
   • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of management accounts and statutory returns.
2. Compliance and Controls:
   • Ensure compliance with SACCO regulations, tax requirements, and financial reporting standards.
   • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of internal financial controls.
   • Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and other regulatory bodies.
3. Accounting Operations:
   • Manage accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processing.
   • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
   • Oversee the preparation of invoices and ensure proper record-keeping.
4. Technology Integration:
   • Leverage Microsoft Dynamics and other accounting software to enhance operational efficiency.
   • Provide technical support and train team members on financial systems.
5. Team Leadership:
   • Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff.
   • Facilitate knowledge sharing and promote professional development within the team.
6. Strategic Financial Support:
   • Advise management on financial implications of organizational decisions.
   • Provide insights into cost management, investment opportunities, and financial risks.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

1. Academic and Professional Qualifications:
   • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
   • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification (Completed).
2. Experience:
   • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in the SACCO or financial services sector.
3. Technical Proficiency:
   • Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics and other accounting software.
   • Strong understanding of financial systems and technology-driven processes.
4. Key Attributes:
   • Mature, reliable, and capable of handling sensitive financial information.
   • Instrumental in driving organizational goals through strategic financial management.
   • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
