The Sales and Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing sales and marketing strategies to drive business growth and achieve institutional targets. This role involves leading a sales team, increasing brand visibility, and managing client relationships within the community to grow the microfinance’s loan portfolio.

Sales and business development

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to meet and exceed business growth targets.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the sales team to ensure high performance and achievement of targets.
  • Drive customer acquisition through field visits, referrals, community partnerships, and other outreach initiatives.
  • Ensure the sales team is equipped with the necessary product knowledge and selling skills.
  • Identify new market segments and business opportunities to expand the institution’s client base.

Marketing and brand management

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and campaigns to build brand awareness and equity.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify industry trends, customer needs, and pricing strategies.
  • Manage the institution’s marketing channels, including social media, local activations, and events.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance and market data to inform future marketing decisions.

Customer relationship management

  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and experience by overseeing all client interactions.
  • Develop and implement strategies for customer retention and relationship management.
  • Manage customer feedback, inquiries, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.

Performance and reporting

  • Monitor the sales pipeline and team performance, taking necessary action to hit sales and profit goals.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market activities, and client acquisition for management review.
  • Manage the marketing and sales budgets effectively.

Product development and promotion

  • Provide market and customer feedback to the business development team to inform the creation of new products and services.
  • Effectively promote and communicate new products to both the sales team and the target market.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience in sales and marketing within the microfinance or credit industry.
  • Valid and active Certificate of Good Conduct (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating a sales team.
  • Strong understanding of microfinance products, credit risk, and financial regulations.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • High level of integrity and a results-driven mindset.
