Principal Geoscientist (Geophysicist) – Geothermal Resource Assessment Job GDC

Key Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of a Chief Geologist will entail: –

• Developing sectional work plans
• Managing sectional budgets
• Reviewing surface exploration and well reports
• Facilitating the process of identifying and ranking geothermal prospects
• Directing the drilling crew on drilling targets
• Planning and monitoring drilling parameters during drilling
• Planning and monitoring well logging/fluid sampling and analysis activities/ processes.

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have

• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory role.
• Master’s degree in: – Earth/Geological Science, Geology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geothermal Energy Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Bachelor’s degree in: – Earth/Geological Science, Geology, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Geospatial Science/Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Post Graduate Diploma in Geothermal Energy Technology or an equivalent from a recognized institution shall be an added advantage.
• Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks.
• Member of the Geological Society of Kenya (GSK) or any other relevant professional body.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
