Role Overview

Amerihealth Africa is setting up a state-of-the-art Multispecialty Medical Center in the heart of Westlands, Nairobi, scheduled to open in May 2026. The Center will offer advanced outpatient and telemedicine services across multiple specialties including Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Gastroenterology (including Endoscopy), and Dental Care.

We are seeking an Operations Manager / Administrator to oversee all operational, administrative, and quality functions as we prepare to launch and grow this flagship facility. The ideal candidate will combine strategic insight, operational excellence, and a strong understanding of healthcare systems to deliver seamless, patient-centered care in a technology-driven environment.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the medical center, ensuring efficiency, safety, and service excellence across all departments.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflows to support high-quality clinical and administrative operations.
  • Support the pre-opening setup including regulatory licensing, equipment set-up, and coordination of facility readiness.

Patient Experience & Quality Assurance

  • Drive a culture of patient-centered care, continuous quality improvement, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor patient feedback systems and implement service recovery plans.
  • Coordinate implementation of quality and safety standards (KQMH, SafeCare, ISO, or equivalent).

Financial & Resource Management

  • Prepare and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and operational plans.
  • Supervise procurement, inventory management, and vendor contracts to ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Work with finance teams to ensure accurate billing, claims management, and timely revenue collection.

Human Resource & Team Management

  • Oversee recruitment, induction, and performance management for clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Build a cohesive, motivated team committed to excellence and professional growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, respect, and continuous learning.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure facility’s full compliance with Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), Ministry of Health (MOH), and other regulatory standards.
  • Maintain readiness for inspections, audits, and accreditation.

Strategic Partnerships & Business Development

Identify and develop partnerships with insurers, corporate clients, and referral networks.
Support marketing, branding, and outreach strategies to position Amerihealth Africa as a center of excellence.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role within a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Proven experience in EMR implementation, quality improvement, or facility commissioning will be highly desirable.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with a hands-on management style.
  • Excellent understanding of Kenyan healthcare regulations, accreditation systems, and health insurance operations.
  • Proficiency in digital health tools and EMR systems.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High integrity, problem-solving capacity, and resilience in a fast-paced startup environment.
