Key responsibilities

Teaching, learning and curriculum

  • Preparing schemes of work and lesson plans as per the curriculum.
  • Effective planning and delivery of lessons to a range of classes that cater for the needs and development of the students according to age and ability.
  • Keeping abreast with the current curriculum content and evolving trends.
  • Develop student’s critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Differentiate teaching methodologies based on student diversity and individual needs.
  • Engage students in active learning.
  • Using comprehensive materials, technology and resources to support student learning.
  • Putting up displays in the classroom and other appropriate areas.
  • Work proactively and effectively in collaboration and partnership with learners, parents, caregivers, other staff, ensuring equality of opportunity for all in the best interests of students.

Student Assessment

  • Using summative and formative assessment strategies.
  • Correcting and marking work done by learners and providing feedback promptly.
  • Giving homework and ensuring that the homework is completed.
  • Recording students’ performance, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of pupils’ progress on school management system.
  • Analyze and interpret examination data and use the data to guide teaching approaches.

Extra -curricular activities -including clubs and societies

  • Participating in school’s non academic meetings and events.
  • Participating in school assemblies.
  • Encourage learners to engage in extracurricular activities.

Student discipline Pastoral care

  • Providing pastoral care and support to students, providing them with a secure environment to learn.
  • Undertaking pastoral duties such as taking on the role of mentor/class teacher, and supporting pupils on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties.
  • Managing student behavior in the classroom and on school premises, and applying appropriate and effective measures in case of misbehavior.
  • Have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs; gifted and talented; disabilities; and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them and also refer for support from the School Counselor.
  • Keeping student’s attendance records with utmost accuracy.
  • Being present in duty stations at all times during the assigned periods (teacher on duty) and ensure complete supervision.

Public relations and Communication

  • Communicates with and responds to parents/guardians queries regardingcurriculum instruction, student progress or concerns in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Ensuring the student’s planners are signed on a daily basis.

Self-Professional development

  • Ensuring high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching andBest online courses learning.
  • Participating in peer review.
  • Ensuring that classroom lesson observations are done by the Academic
  • Coordinator/principal/deputy principal and feedback discussed accordingly.
  • Adopting and working collaboratively towards the implementation of the school academic planner.
  • Reviewing and evaluating one’s own teaching and learning strategies, methodologies and programme(s).

Key Qualifications

  • Diploma in Music Education or Early Childhood Education with a music speciality.
  • Must be registered by the Teachers Service Commission.
  • Must possess at least two years of experience in a similar teaching role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • High level of professional integrity and personal resilience.
  • Strong musical proficiency, including vocal and instrumental skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of pupils.
