ISM Containers is currently seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer. This role will be based at the YARD, Thika. You will be working closely with various teams including Design, Architect, Project Managers, and the Procurement department along with the plumbers reporting to you. By fulfilling these responsibilities, you will contribute to maintaining our company’s reputation for delivering high-quality container homes while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed engineering designs and specifications for mechanical systems, machinery, and components.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop 2D and 3D models.
- Conduct feasibility studies and performance analyses to optimize designs.
- Plan and conduct tests to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems.
- Analyze test data, identify issues, and make design modifications as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, industrial designers, and project managers.
- Provide technical support and expertise during product development and manufacturing.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, reports, and technical manuals.
- Ensure that mechanical designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance processes.
- Evaluate material and manufacturing options to optimize costs while maintaining quality.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to propose innovative solutions.
- Participate in research and development activities to improve existing products or develop new ones.
You are qualified if:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya or the Institute of Engineers of Kenya.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
- Proficiency in applying technical principles, theories, and concepts related to mechanical engineering, coupled with a solid grasp of project management practices.
- Expertise in mechanical design principles and their impact on overall design processes.
- Proven understanding of CAD/CAE tools, with a preference for experience in SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with design control methodologies and their application in development processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams and clear documentation of findings.
