Job Purpose/Mission

The IT Manager is responsible for the operational management, support, and continuous improvement of the organization’s global IT environment. This is a hands-on role combining technical delivery with day-today team oversight. The role acts as a deputy to the Head of IT when required and must be capable of independently managing IT operations, resolving complex issues, and leading technical initiatives. The focus is operational excellence, reliability, and secure-by-design delivery in a fast-moving, commercial/startup-like environment.  

IT Operations & Support 

  • Oversee global day-to-day IT operations and end-user support 
  • Ensure high availability and performance of IT systems and services 
  • Manage incident, problem, and change processes 
  • Maintain clear documentation and standard operating procedures 
  • Drive continuous improvement in service quality and responsiveness 

Hands-On Technical Delivery (Core Focus – ~70%) 

  • Administer and support cloud and on-prem environments 
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, network, and identity issues 
  • Support endpoint management and device lifecycle processes 
  • Implement system improvements, upgrades, and migrations 
  • Contribute directly to technical project delivery

Infrastructure & Cloud 

  • Support hybrid infrastructure (cloud-first with some on-prem) 
  • Manage servers, storage, backups, and recovery processes 
  • Assist with disaster recovery and business continuity readiness 
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and performance 

Networking 

  • Support global connectivity, VPNs, and firewall environments 
  • Assist with network troubleshooting and optimization 
  • Maintain secure remote access solutions 

Security (Operationally Grounded) 

  • Apply security best practices in daily operations 
  • Support MFA, endpoint security, and identity controls 
  • Assist in vulnerability remediation and patching 
  • Escalate and respond to security incidents as required  

 Projects & Improvement 

  • Deliver IT projects and technical rollouts in collaboration with the Head of IT/CISO 
  • Identify automation and optimization opportunities 
  • Support digital transformation initiatives 

Deputy Responsibilities 

  • Act as deputy to the Head of IT when required 
  • Team & Vendor Oversight 
  • Provide day-to-day operational directions to IT support staff across the different operational countries 
  • Coordinate tasks and priorities across the team 
  • Manage third-party vendors and service providers  
  • Ensure service levels are met 
  • Representing IT in internal meetings 
  • Support planning and prioritization discussions 

Experience

  • Strong experience supporting modern IT environments
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft 365 and identity management (Entra ID/AD)
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals and firewalls
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune)
  • Backup and disaster recovery experience
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceDesk Plus)
  • 5+ years in IT roles with increasing responsibility
  • Experience in a hands-on technical role within a commercial environment
  • Vendor management experience
  • •Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
