Job Purpose

To provide accurate and timely patient registration, appointment scheduling, and health information management through the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) to support clinical decision-making, ensure data integrity, and maintain compliance with confidentiality and regulatory standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head, Health Records & Information Services, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

  • Registering patients and booking appointments through the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) to ensure accurate and timely data entry.
  • Creating and maintaining electronic patient records within the HMIS for proper identification and continuity of care.
  • Updating patient demographic and clinical information promptly in the HMIS to reflect current status.
  • Retrieving patient records and reports electronically to support clinical decision-making and administrative processes.
  • Gathering and compiling health data from the HMIS for reporting, analysis, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensuring compliance with data security, confidentiality, and integrity standards in all HMIS operations.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned.

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Registered member of AMRO-K.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
